The worlds of the 15th century

During the 15th century their are many types of societies. These societies are ery different from each other and they had had their part to play in the 15th century.
Australia had a very interesting thing to play in the environment. Australia and its people were really good in "cleaning up the country" this meaning that they were set fires to clean up the dead bush and it was their own little way of cleaning up, fast. Even though this way helped in cleaning up it was also very important for it to be controlled, because if not it can cause a lot of damage to the people and to the land.
The Igho and the Iroquois were more of hunter gatherer type of people, they were living in small village based communities. They however did have oppressive political authority and they had major class inequalities.
Through out this chapter their was different type of peoples, that lived different types of lifestyles and survived in many different ways. The only thing that they did have in common was that they were in the 15th century.
The Ming dynasty China was very interesting, China saw a lot of change during this time.
The use of mongol names was discourage, confucian learning was promoted, they wanted to eliminate foreign rule. This is very important because this is a very important thing even that happened in China that caused a lot of change.

The mongols, mongols, mongols, mongols

The mongols adapted any religion that they saw, they were very adaptive.
The mongol empire was very big.
They also had a very bad reputation for not being civilized, that they shouldn't be respected.
* The mongols got a bad rep from historians. In fact, they deserve respect for creating a civilization with a long term impact. Yes or No?

I think that the mongols do deserve respect, just because even though they lack structure, they were still able to conquer land.
They conquered land in many ways but the most known way was the violent way.
They conquered all this land with very limited technology.
The mongols were civilized they have engineers, advanced military.
Even though the mongols were know for raping and taking advantage of the women in a bad way, as well as using a lot of violence, and taking land by force. I feel they should still be respected.
The mongols did and accomplished a lot in a very small amount of time, which was very impressive.
Even to this day we are still studying about the mongols and we are still learning about their history, i feel like they do deserve respect.
Another thing that was interesting about the mongols was that they adapted to many religions of the people they conquered. They adapted to many different lifestyles and they were very well at doing that.

Chapter 9 Islam

Islam:
  • Different people coming from different places, looking different were all participating in the same spiritual ritual unity.
  • There was a lot of diversity in people.
  • Muslim had a very big presence in the United States, 8 million muslims, 1,200 mosques.
  • Christianity and Islam emerged more from the margins of mediterranean and Middle Eastern civilizations.
  • The spread of Islam was very big and important.
  • it continued in the modern era their was around 22% , 1.2  billion people who identified themselves as Muslims.
  • Mecca was home to people from various tribes and clans and it also housed exiles, refugees, foreign merchants.
  • However Mecca had wealth but it was only held by a few people.
  • Muhammad Ibn Abdullah believed that he was Allah's messenger to the Arabs, He believed that he was the one that was going to bring them a scripture that they could understand.
  • The message of Quran was made into five requirements that were known as the pillars of Islam.
  • A lot of changes started happening after Muhammad's death in 632.
  • Arab empires were built: islamic community wanted wealth and wanted to make a profit out of the trade routes.
  • People were able to practice their own religion as long as they paid tax (jizya).
  • Conversion to the religion was not an easy process.
  • Allah made men superior to women, and good women were obedient
  • Polygyny was permitted, men were limited to four wives, He had to treat them all equally

Silk, Sea, Sand Roads

Silk roads:

  • Started in China
  • There was more than one road.
  • Luxury items traveled through those routes.
  • They were smaller things, usually for the wealthy
  • They were very protected in China on how to make the goods.
  • People were doing well in China can only make the silk.
  • People would walk around seven days ti get somewhere.

Sea Roads:

  • Spices, livestock, slaves
  • Mass exposure to goods
  • Some problems are rotting food on the boat.
  • Diseases were more common
  • A lot of people died on their journey
  • Sinking, lost at sea, strong currents

Sand Roads:

  • A lot of camels go at the same time.
  • Slaves transported kola nuts, dates.
  • The Spread of the Islam religion and culture
  • Dangers were heat, no water, no food.
  • The people traveled at night, their was a very small camel to human ratio.
  • They rely a lot on camels and navigation.
  • Women were really not brought with them

September 3 Blog

When reading the reading I found a few things that caught my attention. The reading had a lot to do with migration. The part that caught my attention was roles of women in this.

  • It is amazing how much and how far people migrated from place to place
  • Without using any sort of transportation
  • They migrated to place and they did not know where they were going
  • The did not have any sort of direction and were just moving where the food was.
  • They did not know there were other pieces of lands out there and what they might had.
  • They walked and ended up in places far away from Africa
  • They moved to different countries except Antartica, where there is nothing and human population back then would of had a hard time trying to survive
When reading this it really surprised me the women's role and how they were becoming more important in the fact that they were having a say in things. The other thing that surprised me is the fact how all these people immigrated through out the years and some of them back then did not know or had a clue where they were or where they were going.

Post #1 Second part of the semester.

Chapter 5 reading.10/24/2014

Today in class we learned and talked about China and India, these were part of the reading that we were supposed to read.
In China we talked about how the landowner had a lot of power. There were a certain amount of people that owned all the land. There was someone that tried and changed this, however that person was then assassinated because of the change that they wanted to do. This is very important because there was a lot of inequality that was happening.
In China however their were people that sponsored poor peasants to get a higher education. This is important because they are giving them an opportunity.
We also talked about how people were had to be born into the elite class. It was extremely hard to even be apart of this type of class. The elite class was the one that made all the decisions and had the most power.

It was extremely noticeable that their were classes in China and in India. If was also extremely noticeable who was part of the higher class and who was not.
At the beginning on the chapter i also read that it talked about how the elite had so much power that they can even make their own military and over power the emperor if they wanted to. This is important and interesting because it just shows how much power money and class status can give you. We still sort of have classes today. They are less noticeable but we can all still see them. In the chapter classes were made to keep people in order and to make sure everything worked accordingly. They were also meant to keep the higher people on the top and everybody else below them.
Lets just say if people were to distribute the land that the small percentage of higher people had, people would not know how to run the land, how to work the land, what to make out of the land. This is also a good point on why the small percentage of people controlled a lot of the land. People that did not have land would be confuse on how to run the land, would be confuse on what to do with the land, would be confuse not having that higher person telling them what to do.

Another thing we discussed were slavery, Slavery is probably one of the oldest human practices that have been practiced. I think slavery goes back to the neolithic era, where people started to settle down and that's when they started coming up with the idea that they can just force people to work for them. We have seen all different types of slavery and we have also read and seen how slavery has come back around in the eras.

Last blog of 1st part of the semester.

There has been period where their were has been always someone with more power than others. This is important because people have developed that and this says a lot about the people. This shows how they are progressing as a community and want to evolve further. This is important because a stronger figure head has developed in the community but a figurehead has also developed when it came down to gender.

We all knew that men in general were more strong and were seen as a figurehead than women. Women were always the one with the lower role in society.

This s important because even to this day we still see this in our society and our community. This has evolved with us for the longest time and it is important to recognize this.
